Mike Sanfillipo was the contractor on the extensive renovation of our historical home, originally built in 1886.  I have been a practicing CPA for over 40 years.  I have tried to live by the philosohy of treating my clients' problems and opportunities as if they were my own.  One day near the end of the renovation of our home, I complimented Mike Sanfillipo that he was treating our home as if it were his own home.  Mike looked me right in the eyes and very matter of factly said: "Tom, until this project is complete, it is my home."  I think that says it all.

My wife and I had never constructed a house from the ground up. We viewed a house in the La Canada-Flintridge area and where impressed with the design and quality of construction. After making inquiries we found the general contractor was Sanfilippo Construction Co.

I have had the pleasure of working with Mike Sanfilippo and Sanfilippo Construction for more than six years at both the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu and the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino. While I was supervising construction projects at the Getty, I worked with Mike on two projects. He built an x-ray facility, working closely with radiation engineers to design and provide the proper shielding. Next, he performed some seismic mitigation on a residential space that had been converted into offices by bolting the structure to its foundation.

As Operations Director at the Huntington, I oversee Facilities, Security, Safety and Risk Management. Mike worked with me on an office remodel project, involving electrical, HVAC, dry wall, painting, and carpeting.

I have enjoyed every interaction with Mike. He is the consummate professional, always prompt and able to work within tight deadlines, accurate in his estimations and billings, and thorough in the performance of his work. At both the Getty and the Huntington, we routinely require contractors to adhere to strict security regulations, including entrance to the property, storage of materials, escort requirements, safety regulations and others. Mike consistently exceeded our expectations and worked easily in our environment. He is also sensitive to the issues of working in and around facilities with valuable collections, including the need to minimize dust, vibrations, etc.

Mike Sanfilippo has been a close friend (and baseball playing teammate) for more than 20 years. Mike does both residential and commercial work. For example, he has done work on our two homes and on the homes of several of my partners in Pasadena, La Canada (where he lives), Hancock Park, etc. He has built million dollar homes in the area and has done much smaller remodels as well. His commercial work covers a broad range from small operations to the Getty Museum and the Annandale Country Club.
